Historical wooden ships in Nyhavn harbor in Copenhagen

The Little Mermaid stands on Copenhagen harbor and symbolizes the fairy tale by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen, the story of a young mermaid who fell in love with a prince, and often came up to the edge of the water to look for her love.

Nyhavn is a waterfront and canal with many historical wooden ships, lined by brightly coloured 17th and early 18th century townhouses and bars, cafes and restaurants.
