DENMARK - FAROE Islands

The Faroe Islands are an archipelago between the Norwegian Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean, approximately halfway between Norway and Iceland.
The Faroe Islands have been a self-governing country within the Danish Realm since 1948. The Faroe Islands are of volcanic origin. Later the glaciers of the ice period restructured the original plateau, to an archipelago with high mountains, deep valleys and narrow fjords.
Animal life is characterised by the ever present sheep that outnumbers the population and the rich and varied bird life expecially seabirds that attracts bird enthusiasts and ornithologist from all around the world.
