Malta - Malta Island
It can be confusing as the archipelago country is named Malta, but the main island is also called Malta.
Valletta is the main attraction of Malta, but there is also megalithic temples listed by Unesco which deserve a visit. The numerous and still existing megalithic monuments show how populated these islands were in the early days due to its geographical position. The prehistoric man inhabited these islands from 5,000 B.C. It shows how advanced they were in the art of building and the making of pottery.
Mdina is one of the most beautiful places in Malta. It is surrounded by high bastions on the top of a hill. It is the highest on the island and situated far from the sea a good strategy for defensive purposes.
