Rhodes, part of Dodecanese islands, is one of the largest and most fertile of the Greek Islands.. This isand is one of the most visited because of its combination of beaches, archaeological sites, and extensive medieval town. The construction of the ancient city of Rhodes began in 407 BC and is now the capital of the island. In 1988 the Medieval City of Rhodes was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
