MEXICO - Yucatan - Merida - Celestun Biosphere Reserve

Mérida is the capital and largest city in Yucatán and has one of the largest centro histórico districts in the Americas. Many Colonial homes line the city streets to this day, in various states of disrepair and renovation.
The Grand Mayan World Museum has collections that include anthropology, archaeology, ethnography, and history/customs of the Mayan civilization.
Celestún is a town on the Gulf of Mexico coast located 90 Kms of Merida.
Surrounding the town is the 147,500-acre (600 km²) Ría Celestún Biosphere Reserve, a wetland reserve that is the winter home to vast flocks of flamingos, as well as many herons and other bird species.
