
GUADELOUPE (France)
Guadeloupe is a large territory made up of its waters and 5 main islands, plus a number of smaller islands. Every island has its own characteristics and each is very different from the other.
The two main slands : Basse-Terre and Grande-Terre are also called Guadeloupe and they are connected by a bridge crossing the Riviere Salée, a sea passage of 3 km. Fundamentally different from one another, Basse Terre is mountainous and volcanic, rich with forests, rivers and waterfalls; and Grande Terre stretches out along a strip of calcium and coral deposits, is practically flat apart from a small region called, “Grands Fonds,” which is formed by a series of gulleys and sheer hills.
