The British Virgin Islands are a self-governing British overseas territory, situated in the Caribbean just to the east of the US Virgin Islands. BVI is an archipelago of 60 islands, cays and islets located in the Northeastern Caribbean offering a myriad of holiday activities.
The official name of the Territory is still simply the "Virgin Islands", but the prefix "British" is often used to distinguish it from the neighbouring American territory which is called to "Virgin Islands of the United States".
