SURINAME - Rainforest - Jungle
A large part of Suriname is occupied by a tropical rain forest, which is a part of the vast Amazon region, with a great diversity of flora and fauna that is in excellent condition, though is increasingly threatened by new development. Most Amerindians and Maroons live in this region, many of them in a primitive way. Road conditions are poor in some of these areas and especially after rain, getting stuck is not uncommon. The best way is to reach a small airstrip by aircraft to reach one of the few lodges located in the middle of nowhere.
