​The towering Andes finally slide into the sea at the very tip of South America in a windswept archipelago known as Tierra del Fuego. At the heart of the island is the lively city of Ushuaia, which is the capital of Tierra del Fuego, bounded on the north by the Martial mountain range and on the south by the Beagle Channel, and it is commonly regarded as the southernmost city in the world.
