Cayenne is the capital city of French Guiana stands on a former island at the mouth of the Cayenne River on the Atlantic coast. Cayenne is very ethnically diverse with Creole, Haitian, Brazilian, European and other Asian communities and is very famous for its Carnival.
Traditional Creole houses are scattered all over the centre of Cayenne. They are built of wood and are painted in many different colours.
