United Kingdom - Kent - Dover
Folkestone
Dover is a major ferry port in Kent. and it faces France across the Strait of Dover, the narrowest part of the English Channel.
The Channel Tunnel is a 50.45-kilometre rail tunnel linking Folkestone, with Coquelles, near Calais in northern France, beneath the English Channel at the Strait of Dover. It is the only fixed link between Great Britain and the European mainland. The surrounding chalk cliffs are known as the White Cliffs of Dover.
This name given to the region of English coastline facing the Strait of Dover and France. The cliff face, which reaches a height of 106 metres (348 ft), owes its striking appearance to its composition of chalk accented by streaks of black flint. The cliffs, on both sides of the town of Dover in Kent, stretch for 13 kilometres (8 mi). The White Cliffs Trails were created in 1987 along the famous 'white cliffs' to the east of Dover to Deal and are very popular.
