Hierapolis was an ancient city located on hot springs and its ruins are adjacent to modern Pamukkale. The extensive ruins of the Roman mineral water spa city of Hierapolis include a grand theater, a vast North Necropolis filled with sarcophagi, colonnaded street, baths, and numerous other ruined structures.
