SLOVAKIA - Banska Stiavnica
Banska Stiavnica is a picturesque medieval mining town lying amid the forests and is included on the List of the UNESCO World Heritage List. The city has been the biggest mining centre in the Habsburg Monarchy in the 18th century and was famous for its silver. The majority of monuments are concentrated into the area spreading between the Trojicné namestie square and the Radnicné namestie square. The squares are separated from each other by the Gothic church of St. Catherine of Alexandria from the late 15th century and the Town Hall building with its slender clock tower.
