MACEDONIA - Orhid
Orhid is the largest city on Lake Ohrid located in southern Macedonia.
The city is a kingdom of light and water, a repository of ancient ruins from Macedonia’s earlier kingdoms. In 1979 and in 1980, Ohrid and Lake Ohrid were accepted as Cultural and Natural World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. Ohrid is notable for once having had 365 churches, one for each day of the year, and has been referred to as a "Jerusalem (of the Balkans)".
The Monastery of Saint Naum is situated along Lake Ohrid, 29 kilometres (18 mi) south of the city of Ohrid, and was named after the medieval Saint Naum who founded it.
