LATVIA and RIGA​

​​The Baltic countries (Latvia, Estonia..) has been dominated by german and russian in the past, and they have regained their independence in 1991, have continued in their history to forge a strong national consciousness, like the northern states of Europe.
Attached to their glorious medieval past, crossed by the great romantic and nationalist movements of the late nineteenth century, the Baltic States were rooted in European history while preserving their traditions. Riga, with its medieval streets and its exceptional collection of Art Nouveau buildings, alone testifies to the richness of these ancient economic and cultural exchanges.​
