FRANCE - Occitanie - Languedoc - Aigues-Mortes
Aigues-Mortes is an old city with medieval defensive walls that still surround the entire historic town and was the city from which Louis IX ((later to become Saint Louis) twice departed for the Crusades: the Seventh Crusade in 1248 and again for the Eighth Crusade in 1270 for Tunis where he died.
Today, Aigues-Mortes is a charming city visited by thousands of tourists every year.
