Ravenna is an elegant town in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy and is wellknown for its fabulous early Christian and Byzantine mosaics.
Ravenna was the seat of the Roman Empire in the 5th century and then of Byzantine Italy until the 8th century. Eight early Christian monuments of Ravenna are inscribed on the World Heritage List.
