GREEK ISLANDS - GREECE Santorini Island - Thira

Santorini is the southernmost member of the Cyclades group of islands, about 200 km (120 mi) southeast of Greece's mainland. It is the largest island of a small, circular archipelago, which bears the same name and is the remnant of a volcanic caldera. The municipality of Santorini includes the inhabited islands of Santorini and Therasia, as well as the uninhabited islands of Nea Kameni, Palaia Kameni, Aspronisi and Christiana. Thira is the picturesque capital of the island; perched high up on the edge of the Caldera, it looks like a marvellous painting. Thira, together with Oia, Imerovígli and Firostefani are located high above on a cliff, looking like a balcony overlooking the caldera and offering amazing views of the volcano.
