Mykonos island, is part of the Cyclades, lying between Tinos, Syros, Paros and Naxos. Mykonos is famed as a cosmopolitan destination among the Greek islands and widely recognised as one of the great travel meccas. The capital town (Hóra or Chora) of the island spreads out over a wide area and is one of the best examples of Cycladic architecture and a spellbinding attraction for visitors. Stroll around its narrow marble streets and admire whitewashed houses with colourful doors and window frames, bougainvillea trees in purple bloom and hidden churches. Mykonos's nickname is "The Island of the Winds". Tourism is a major industry and Mykonos is known for its vibrant nightlife.
