GREEK ISLANDS - GREECE Kimolos Island
This tiny beautiful island is close to the island of Milos. Its soil is volcanic with a unique variety of minerals. The capital of the island is Chorio (not Chora like in others islands). Kastro, is actually the oldest and most picturesque quarter of Chorio. Its name means Castle in Greek and this was the only inhabited area of Kimolos until the end of the 19th century when houses started to be built outside the walls of the castle. The island is also the refuge of the Mediterranean seal Monachus monachus. With a walk, you will find “Skiadi”, a natural sculpture resembling a gigantic mushroom.
