GEORGIA - Tbilisi
Tbilisi is the capital city of Georgia and is located on the banks of the Kura river. The city was on the Silk Road in old times. Although the city was destroyed and rebuilt some 29 times, the layout of the old town is largely intact with narrow lanes and large houses built around courtyards.
Present-day Tbilisi is one of the safest cities in Europe. Notable landmarks include cathedrals like Sameba and Sioni, the medieval Narikala Fortress and the classical avenues Rustaveli and Agmashenebeli.
