Vaison la Romaine

At the end of the fourth century BC, the upper city of Vaison became the capital of a Celtic tribe, the Voconces. After the Roman conquest, Vaison-la-Romaine was a prosperous town : the rich houses and the quality of the decoration that can still be admired today are evidence of this opulent period.
The Roman bridge, a major architectural monument, is still used to connect the lower town to the medieval town.
