FRANCE - Provence - Sault
Mont Ventoux - Gorges de la Nesque
The village of Sault is perched on a rocky spur, in a plain composed of fields of wheat, spelled and lavender which is revealed at the end of a turn.
Mont Ventoux is a 1910 meters high conical peak which is visible from far across the surrounding countryside. With its altitude and the cooling mistral wind from the north, it's often snow-capped in April, while the cherry orchards below are in blossom and the fields are turning green.
You might drive to the top and admire the magnificent view from the top, especially if a mistral wind has cleared the air. From the northeastern lookout alone you can see most of the Alps mountains.
In the Vaucluse mountains between Monieux and Méthamis, the Nesque Gorges offer an impressive natural spectacle! Along the sightseeing route, discover a magnificent canyon with wild and awe-inspiring landscapes.
