FINLAND - LAPLAND

Located between East and West, with snowy winters and warm, light-filled summers, Finland offers a number of fascinating contrasts. Finland's unspoilt forests, as well as its thousands of islands and lakes, offer plenty of opportunities for visitors to enjoy beautiful natural surroundings.
Finnish Lapland is the Arctic far north of Finland, strictly defined as the province of the same name, but in practice starting near the Arctic Circle. Temperatures can plunge as low as -50°C in the winter and the sun is not seen for days on end during the polar night. By contrast, summer brings out the Midnight Sun and temperatures can occasionally rise to 30°C.  Lapland consists of largely flat, vast forests, thousands of lakes and a lot of swamps. Reindeers can be seen easily from roads.
