Toledo remains one of Spain's great cities. Redolent of past glories, it is packed with memorable sights and enjoys an incomparable setting.
Set in a landscape of abrasive desolation, Toledo sits on a rocky mound where every available surface has been built, and is encircled on three sides by the Tagus River. This old city retains its medieval road plan.
If you are going to Madrid, a day trip to Toledo (30 minutes by train) is almost a "must visit." Toledo is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
