AUSTRIA - Melk Abbey
Melk is a Benedictine Abbey located above the town of Melk on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Danube river between Salzburg and Vienna in Lower Austria. Melk Abbey is one of the world's most famous monastic sites with an impressive Baroque style and was originally a palace.
The highlight of the abbey, though, is certainly the Stiftskirche (Abbey Church). The church has an astonishing number of windows and is richly embellished with marble and frescoes.
