INDONESIA - Bali

Hindu Temples

Bali is known as the "Island of Gods" for the numerous hindu temples, shrines and festivals.
No visit to Bali would be complete without a trip to see some of the most famous Bali's temples. There are over 20,000 temples in Bali, a widespread marker of Bali's exuberant culture.
The traffic in Bali is just awful in the southern part, near the airport, around the beaches and Ubud so you can expect plenty of time for each move.
BEST TIME to VISIT BALI
BEST TIME to TRAVEL to BALI

From June to October
Warning : It's what we wrote few years ago, but it changed completely and our trip to bali in April 2018 was very disappointed as the access was forbidden for tourists inside the hindus temples. Tourists still buy the same ticket at the counter but they forgot to tell you will stay at the gate of all temples : you just have the right to turn around the temples, and see the outside walls. It is said that it was to prevent tourist irrespectful abuses like climbing on the temple walls but the solution was probably to sanction such abuses by law, and also probably limit the number of tourist entrances per day or hour : when you see full buses pouring hundreds of tourists in each temple, we can also understand it's perceived by hindus like an invasion. But the solution retained so far to sell tickets just to see the outside walls is also very bad as we consider it's better to avoid these temples visits as the interest is very limited. Also, there isn't one rule for all tourists : some can pay "guides" and they can enter inside the temples and we call that corruption as the rules might apply to all tourists. So Bali at the present time is a lost paradise for us. We won't go back to Bali.

You will find few pictures of the main temples below (note these pictures aren't possible today as they sere taken inside the temples :
