SRI LANKA - Aluvihare

​The Aluvihare Rock Temple was founded by King Devanampiya Tissa of Sri Lanka around the 3rd century BC, functioning as one of the main temples in Sri Lanka. You will have to climb 47 stone carved steps to reach the caves.

One of the caves is historic as it is the cave Priest Buddhagosha wrote the doctrine of Buddha with dedication. Another cave is the temple with caved statues of lord Buddha where large number of devotees call over to worship. climbing higher you reach the chaithya where you could have a panoramic view of the surrounding of blue hills around you.
