CHINA - X'ian
Xi'an is the capital of Shaanxi Province and the biggest city in the northwest of China. Xi'an was also the first stop on the Silk Road, linking up the oriental and western civilizations.
Also called Chang'an (meaning the eternal city) in ancient times, it is one of the birthplaces of the ancient Chinese civilization in the Yellow River Basin area. More than 3,000 years of history including over 1,100 years as the capital city of ancient dynasties, have endowed the city with an amazing historical heritage. Visitors marvel at the numerous historical sites and cultural relics in and around the city.
