USA - New England - Cape Cod Provincetown (MA)
Cape Cod extends into the Atlantic Ocean like a flexed arm enclosing Cape Cod Bay, creating wonderful beaches. Bay beaches are more protected, with warmer and calmer waters, and wide mud flats at low tide while ocean side beaches have bigger waves.
Provincetown is at the very tip of Cape Cod and it's remote location and beautiful scenery have attracted artists of all types over the years. The town also plays an important part in early United States history. These sandy shores were the originally settled by the Pilgrims (before moving into Plymouth), and is the place where the Mayflower Compact was signed. Fishing and whaling have also been a huge part of Provincetown's past. The glory days of fishing are now gone and only a couple dozen ships continue the traditions.
