Outamba-Kilimbi National Park
The Northern aera is close to Guinea and in 2019, the road was mostly unpaved crossing typical villages and see how the people is living in this remote area. A 4WD vehicule is advised on such bumpy road and few basic lodges are available
where is located the Outamba-Kilimbi National Park. The park is divided into two areas, Outamba (741 km²) and Kilimi (368 km²). The area became a game reserve in 1974 and was named its highest peak in one part, Mount Outamba, and its longest river in the other, River Kilimi. The area was originally chosen for preservation as it contains a large number of chimpanzees and monkeys, hippopotamuses, birds..The vegetation is called woodland savanna, with a mixture of jungle and savanna. We saw mostly the jungle where animals are difficult to see.

Northern Sierra Leone - to reach Outamba-Kilimbi National Park, you need to cross this river. So 2 options, the ferry is working and you can drive your 4WD to the Park entrance. Or the ferry is broken and you cross with a small boat and you reach the Park on a motorbike (we did and the ride is very impressive on a bumpy road)
