Ivory Coast - Côte d'Ivoire

Grand-Bassam - Assinie

Grand-Bassam is a city in Côte d'Ivoire, lying east of Abidjan. It was the French colonial capital city from 1893 until 1896, when the administration was transferred to Bingerville after a bout of yellow fever. Many french old colonial style buildings are still remaining and Grand-Bassam was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2012.
Assinie (or Assinie-Mafia) is located 80 kilometres east of Abidjan along the coast of the Gulf of Guinea. Assinie-Mafia is a long narrow settlement along the coast on both sides of the outlet of Aby Lagoon. The area is a favourite destination for wealthy inhabitants of Abidjan for the weekend in their luxery villas and huts. You will find also in Assinie nice Lodges, restaurants and bars.
