EGYPT - Giza - Pyramids

No visit to Cairo is complete without seeing the majesty of the Pyramids and the Sphinx in Giza.

Giza is located only a few kilometers south of Cairo, few hundred meters from the last houses, where a limestone cliff rises abruptly from the other side of a sandy desert plateau. The archeological complex includes the three pyramid complexes, the massive sculpture known as the Sphinx and several cemeteries. The Pyramids of Giza consist of the Great Pyramid of Giza (known Great Pyramid of Cheops or Khufu), the somewhat smaller Pyramid of Khafre (or Chephren) and the relatively modest-sized Pyramid of Menkaure (or Mykerinos). The Great Sphinx lies on the east side of the complex.
